Matt Erion I've never heard Neil play a note he didn't mean. Everything he does is expertly crafted. This record is a lot of fun. Favorite track: Evening Celebration: Night On The Town.

about

Newburgh: An Urban Romance
A Jazz Suite in 4 Movements
1) Sunrise / Morning on the Job
2) Lazy Afternoon
3) Evening Celebration / Night on the Town
4) Afterhours

Written under the auspices of a "Community Arts for Peace" project mini grant, the piece was premiered - as a 3 piece, with no bass or percussion - in 2001 at what can only be called a House Concert & reception here in Newburgh.
It was very well received, and a local filmmaker, making a film about Newburgh, asked for a finished recording to use in the film. It took over a year to complete the final master. Ultimately, non of the material was used in the film.

i was disillusioned and not crazy with the final product. Since this was long before Bandcamp or any other easier way to release a CD (besides manufacturing), I shelved it and chalked it up to experience.

Recently there has been a resurgence of artistic influence here in my fair city, and I've been asked several times recently about the piece. With the now amazingly easy tools of distribution & promotion, I began to feel the release was in fact long overdue. Drummer Bob Emery passed away last year and so in some small way this release honors his memory.

Special Thanks to Paul Hirsch, Tom Pisani, Ryan Ball and the musicians who hung in there with me thru what seemed a long and arduous recording process.
Many thanks for your support
